about

"The title to this track comes from a concept contextualized by SETI astronomer Jill Tarter: "In this field (the search for extraterrestrial life), the number two is the all-important number. We count one, two, infinity. We’re all looking for number two.” The weight of feeling alone can be crushing. As I adhere to the current "normal", I take solace in Tarter's notion. The step from alone to not alone is HUGE. Once that hurdle is tackled, life's possibilities infantessimally expand.

I started by fooling around and eventually landing on an oscillation pattern within an old Korg electric piano. From there, I built out the drone. I tracked drums based on the hypnotic pattern that my brain picked out of the oscillations. After manipulating both the drone and the drums (which included running some of the layers through an old TEAC tape deck for warmth), I went back to add a thin "bleep-bloop" layer with the MicroKorg."
